Sidney Joseph Johnson first picked up a guitar around the age of sixteen.  At some point while visiting a friend, Sidney noticed an electric guitar sitting in a corner collecting dust.  After becoming fixated with the instrument, he picked it up and was playing Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love" within minutes.  The friend, then recognizing the complimentary pair, told Sidney to take the guitar home.

It's hard to put a finger on Sidney Joseph's style, each tune makes an individual statement.  This singer / songwriter has cut his teeth in a variety of genres ranging from Jam Band to World Sound.  Topics of his music range from lost love to revolution.  "I want to strip everything down to its bare essentials," Sidney says of his most recent songs.  His strong vocals accompanied by simple acoustic arrangements really make his music sound timeless.

Currently Sidney is working with producer David Ivory (Erykah Badu & The Roots) and touring with fellow musician The Rhythmatician, who incorporates the Paruvian Cajon.  The duo create a unique soulful Folk sound, commonly described as a mash up between Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews Band.  Around The Main Line, a Philadelphia regional publication, says Sidney, "flawlessly fuses acoustic-based Rock, R&B grooves, Latin rhythms, and Hip-Hop attitude for a sound without boundaries."   Whether dabbling in Folk or World Sound, it's obvious that Sidney Joseph Johnson is tuned into a variety of styles.
