Jillian Canastraro, originally from NY, is premier DJ “DJ MISS J” in Pittsburgh, PA. Her Soundcloud and Mixcloud boasts fans from around the globe. DJ MISS J holds weekly club night residences, plays for large outdoor festival events and has played the Hard Rock Cafe. She MC'd and DJ'd for Neev, from MTV's Catfish who was impressed saying, "She's a really good DJ!"
DJ MISS J is passionate about all kinds of music and has a Bachelors Degree in Dance and a Business Management minor from the prestigious Point Park University. She believes in playing "what the moment calls for" and is extremely versatile musically.
She produces and hosts her own weekly global radio and web tv show "Speaker Spanker" on the worlds largest and most successful global radio station in London, Soundwave Radio 92.3FM. The site has had over 24 million hits globally since it began in 2014, with over 300 countries listening per hour. She spins & hosts live every show. "Speaker Spanker" showcases underground music television. She has had DJ QBERT, DJ S.P.Y, Miss Haze, Shawn Rudiman & Gein as guests.
Jillian has been into DJing since the mid 90s and traveled worldwide, in order to experience music. Miss J has attended WEMF, DEMF, Ultra, Winter Music Conference Miami, NYC club life, Spain Pacha, Fabric in London, Destiny & Dose productions massives in Canada, Toronto clubs like Guvernment and large clubs in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Jillian’s television credits include “Deal or no Deal,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” as well as having appeared in several commercials for MTV and BET.
She also owns and directs Studio J Dance Company for the last 12 years. Jillian worked 12 years for Propel Schools, Summer Dreamer's and CAPA. She has also been in newspapers, magazines and featured on radio.
In September 2004, Jillian danced/choreographed the opening act of The Black Eyed Peas tour at Nemacolin Resort. She was among the BEST DJ nominees for PGH Music Awards in 2015 (with crew member DJ KB), accepting the winning award for Speaker Spanker Crew member Get Nasty, who won Best DJ.
Miss J also produces music, radio drops, beats, remixes & videos. Her first drum n bass track remix of “The Munsters” hit charts in Norway and on Mixcloud. Her drum & bass, house, garage & hip hop mixes have all charted on Mixcloud into the top 10. She has music releases on Rustic Justice and Quark Records in NY as well as house remixes with Davino Records in Europe.
She believes "MUSIC IS THE ANSWER" and will continue to lead the MUSIC LOVE REVOLUTION! In 2015, she headlined the Soundwave Radio Global Party in London, United Kingdom.
